Fur

Get Active! - Help Us To Make Auckland Fur Free in 2008!!

|

Fur Free Auckland has been one of our longest running and most successful campaigns. We have had success with over 60 stores pledging to go fur free. After finding stores stocking fur, we send information packs educating them on the atrocities of the fur industry. The animals are bred purely to be skinned and made into clothing. They are kept in tiny barren cages and are driven insane as they are unable to display any of their natural behaviours or socialise with others. They are then killed by means of electrocution, gassing orhaving their necks broken. In some cases they are even skinned alive.

The Cruel Reality of Fur Farming in the Czech Republic

|

Today Auckland Animal Action received the following photographs from Svoboda zvirat (Freedom for Animals), www.svobodazvirat.cz. These disturbing images have been taken on fox and mink factory farms in the Czech Republic and show problems typically associated with factory farming; these include filthy barren cages, eye infections, disease, physiological issues (which manifest in behaviours such as biting the bars of their cage) and death.

Brave take a Compassionate Stand and Remove Rabbit Fur Coats

|

Our most recent success of our Fur Free Auckland campaign has been with Brave. Brave have a store in New Market , and one on High Street and have been stocking winter coats trimmed with factory farmed rabbit fur.

The rabbits bred on these factory farms live with fear, stress, disease, parasites, and other physical and psychological hardships, all for the sake of profit.

Anti-Fur Activist Arrested for Exercising Right to Protest

|

On Saturday (23.06.07) AAA did a protest against Obzee - a shop selling fur on Wellesley Street in the Auckland CBD. The shop closed up and the woman from the store left. We were just packing up when the woman from the store came back with two security guards, so instantly we started the protest back up again.

She Boutique - Dealers in Death

|

She Boutique is a womans clothing store in Newmarket. This store is stocking several garments trimmed with factory farmed rabbit fur including tops, scarves and shoes.

AAA has contacted She Boutique several times with our concerns and facts about the brutality involved in the fur trade. They are well aware of what misery the animals endure but continue to sell these disgusting items.

Sylvia Park to Remove Billboards featuring Fur Coat

|

Sylvia Park's current advertising campaign features a model wearing a knee length rabbit fur coat; this image could be seen on many billboards lining the Southern Motorway and also featured on mail box flyers advertising the mall.

Auckland Animal Action wrote to the Directors of Kiwi Income Property Trust, who own Sylvia Park, advising them of the conditions in which rabbits, destined for the fur trade, are kept.

Another One Down - $2 Plus Joy Mart Removes Fur After Two Demos

|

In New Market this weekend Auckland Animal Action held two demos at the $2 Plus Joy Mart to protest the sale of factory farmed fur at their store.

When we arrived for our second demo the store owners come out and told us that they would remove the rabbit fur toy cats, fox fur key rings and rabbit fur hair ties.

Tammy Girl Profits From Cruelty

|

Tammy Girl in Takapuna is selling jackets trimmed with fox and rabbit fur. These jackets are made in Asia. The fur used on these jackets come from animals raised intensively on cruel fur farms.

AAA has twice contacted Tammy Girl with our concerns and facts about the brutality involved in the fur trade. They are well aware of what misery the animals endure but continue to sell these disgusting items.

Paula Ryan - Simply Cruel

| |

Paula Ryan, the editorial director of Simply You magazine and fashion designer loves using cruelly produced fur in her designs, her favorites being intensively farmed fox & rabbit.

On 5th September Paula and her daughter Bridget Hope who is also editor of Simply You, held a shopping workshop for women at Smith and Caughey's and we were there to let her know what we think of her and raise public awareness of the disgusting cruel industry she proudly supports.
