Auckland Animal Action anonymously received the following communique:

Every year through out New Zealand hundreds of thousands of pigs are confined to sow crates, farrowing crates and fattening pens. Males in the fattening pens live in their own excrement in cramped pens where they await slaughter. The females are treated as machines, being constantly confined to sow or farrowing crates where they can not turn around, comfortably lie down or properly care for their young. Before long their babies are ripped away from them and they are impregnated again. They are treated as though they do not feel pain, as though they do not matter, as though they are profit.

AAA has received copies of Bite Back magazine from the USA. The following is the contents of an email Auckland Animal Action received from a member of the public who found a dog and entrusted him with Animal Control; only to have Animal Control kill him. This is not the first time we have been contacted by someone who has had an animal killed Animal Control. Last year we were contacted by an East Auckland man whose cat had been picked up and put down by Animal Control within less than 24 hours.

Christmas is supposed to be the season of good will to all, unfortunately for the millions of animals that end up as Christmas dinner this is not so. What follows is a brief look at the cruelty inherent in your Christmas meal.
